AU Function

Based on its mission statement, AU has conceived a set of six key strategic directives to guide the University's development during the next five years. The directives were broadly discussed throughout the University and then formally adopted by the AU University Council and the Board of Trustees.

Strategic Directive 1:  Academic Programs
Improve and promote the existing programs and continue to seek new undergraduate and graduate programs that respond to the needs of the market.

Strategic Directive 2: Students
Recruit and attract academically qualified students while providing an optimum university environment that fosters the retention of the enrolled students.

Strategic Directive 3:  Faculty 
Recruit and retain culturally diverse faculty who are capable of delivering good programs and engaging students in active learning experiences.

Strategic Directive 4: Information Technology
Secure and improve the information technology that supports the academic and administrative functions of the University.

Strategic Directive 5: Community
Encourage the establishment of strong relationship with the community and foster partnerships with institutions and organizations locally, regionally and internationally.

Strategic Directive 6: Research
Support faculty and students in their research that contributes to the economic, social, cultural and educational growth of the country.
